COMMUNITY

The Poor Clare community is a special home for consecrated women who serve their days in work, prayer, adoration and solitude before the Lord and for the salvation of souls. Each of our Sisters brings to life the ancient verses of Psalm 118: "Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, for his love endures forever." At all hours of the day and night, the Poor Clare Sisters of Perpetual Adoration engage in this ceaseless prayer of thanksgiving before Christ's Eucharistic Presence in the Blessed Sacrament. This perpetual adoration is the hallmark of the Order and at the heart of each Sister's vocation.

Our order was established by Mother Marie de Ste. Claire Bouillevaux in 1856 in Troyes, France for the express purpose of Eucharistic worship in a spirit of thanksgiving.Through our perpetual adoration of the Eucahrist, we strive to become more like the One we worship, strengthened in love, forgiveness, and support of one another in the power of God's Spirit.Through our vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, our daily life of prayer and adoration, and our communal life, we each surrender our lives to Jesus in continual thanksgiving.

We invite you now to explore our Sisters' lives through this website. Here you will meet the Sisters collectively and individually. You will be able to view pictures of their home, the monastery, and you will find information on vocations and view a typical daily schedule.

Meet the Sisters
In the Euchrist, Jesus offers perfect worship to the Father. Our adoration unites us with Him in His sacrifice of praise. In the name of the Church, we extend the adoration offered at Mass throughout the day andnight as a public witness of faith and love on behalf of all the people of God!

The Divine Office
If Jesus be our friend, can we refuse our love to Him who reigns upon our altars 'mid choirs of Seraphim?

Oh no! We'll rather kneel to Him And earnestly implore that He may guide our steps aright to heaven's eternal shore.

Looking upon work as a grace, we make full use of our abilities in the tasks assigned to us, that we may return to God with increase the talents He has given us. While we labor carefully and devotedly during our times of work, we will do so with a tranquil and recollected spirit, so that our occupations contribute to our life of prayer. (Constitutions, No. 148)

God indeed is my savior; I am confident and unafraid. My stringth and my courage is the LORD, and He has been my savior. With joy you will draw water at the fountain of salvation, and say on that day: Give thanks to the LORD, acclaim his name; among the nations make known his deeds, proclaim how exalted is his name. (Isaiah 12:2-4)

United in our same tradition and spirit, we live a common life as true sisters, praying, working, and recreating together. Supported by our community structures and strengthened by the faithful example of our sisters, we can more easily fulfill our calling.

I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly. (John 10: 10)

The life of the Poor Clares is a continuation of the life of the Holy Family. Through a warm community life lived in prayerful silence and humble labor of household chores.Jesus spent thirty years of hiddenness which is symbolic of the seclusion of the cloister.
